Plus500 is starting to offer bets on the prediction market

Plus500US has added prediction markets to its “Plus500 Futures” platform. The offering is made possible through a deal with prediction markets provider Kalshi.

Key conclusions

• Plus500 has added event-based trading for US visitors with opportunities spanning 10 industries such as finance, entertainment, science and technology.
• Users click “Yes” if they believe the event will happen, or “No” if they believe it won’t. For example, will Ali Khamenei step down as the leader of Iran by March 1, 2026?
• Prices are shown in cents and indicate how much users believe in the outcome, for example 25¢ ≈ 25% probability. When the contract expires, correctly predicted contracts return $1, and lost correct ones return $0.
• The minimum trade size for the prediction markets is $1, and a commission of $0.01 is paid per contract, with possible additional exchange fees.
• Multiple event contracts can be opened, but users cannot buy contracts on opposite sides of the same event.

Growth forecast markets

Interest in prediction markets has grown in recent years, with users drawn to the binary-style setup, which allows participants to bet on the outcome of events spanning a variety of walks of life, from the price of the Nasdaq and who will win the next US presidential election to what will be the best AI model this month.

While initially the domain of specialist market prediction websites such as Polymarket, traditional brokers have begun to introduce event-based contracts, with Plus500 joining established names such as Interactive Brokers and Crypto.com.

However, prediction markets are not without their critics. Perhaps they encourage compulsive betting-like behavior in some people, given how easy the trades are to understand and their applicability to many areas of everyday life. As a result, users should trade responsibly and take risk management seriously.
